3 Little Birds: Sports & the People You Meet

photos: Holding a chick, Oreo the chicken, Marmalade the cat.

We call it our swim date--my husband and I share a lane at Masters' swim on Sunday afternoons. The 90-minute session is one of the highlights of my week and I hate missing it. I love being in the water. I love learning. I love the people.

One of my swim friends is also named Sara, but with an h. With her permission I call her Chicken Sarah--we trade table scraps for fresh eggs from her chickens once a week.

This week Chicken Sarah got a package of live chicks in the mail so I went out to meet the brood.

Fun!!!

This picture reminded me of one of my favorite songs "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley.

Questions for You:
- Have you tried fresh eggs? The pretty brown ones remind me of the eggs Caroline Ingalls always tried to sell to Mrs. Olson on Little House on the Prairie. Now, having them in my own hands, I can tell you they're real and they're spectacular!

- What's one of your favorite Seinfeld scenes?

- What sports have brought you the most friendships? Or best memories?

There are a few bloggers who have gotten baby chicks lately. What's going on and I may need to order me some. I have had brown eggs before - bought at the flea market and they are spectacular.
I own all the Seinfeld DVD's so that should tell you something. Favorite scene? Hmm? Has to be the one where Kramer is signing up for the AIDS walkathon and they lady registering him goes to give him the ribbon he is supposed to pin on his shirt while doing the walk and he says, he doesn't want the ribbon. She then says, you have to and he says no I don't. Then she tells some guy, hey so and so(who is playing the role of a hispanic gay guy), this guy doesn't want to wear a ribbon. The hispanic gay guy says in his very hispanic accent and rolling his "R's", Who? Who doesn't want to wear thee (sounds like "thee" instead of "the" when he says it) rrrrrrrribbon? Love that line so much.
Sport that has brought me the most memories and met so many awesome peeps has to be running, especially early on when i was training exclusively for marathons. You make really good friends on LONG runs.

I buy farm fresh eggs every week. Eggs from the store are typically close to 3-4 weeks old when you get them.

I've so wanted to get chickens...if we could just stick around for the summers to raise them! Thanks for sharing, Sara!
